Science [All Levels]

Science 1: (30 hours)
  • Plate tectonic theory to account for earth's major geological events.
  • Students will learn to perform investigations, asking questions and understanding the scientific process.
  • Radiation, convection and heat transfer.
  • Ecosystem and natural resources and their impact on the environment.
  • Basic math skill.
Life Science: (30 hours)
  • Plant and animal cells.
  • Genetics.
  • Plant and animal kingdom.
  • Evolution.
  • Respiration.
  • Photosynthesis
 Chemistry: (30 hours)
  • Structure and discovery of atoms.
  • The organization of the periodic table and how to predict the properties of the atoms from the periodic table.
  • Matter and its breakdown and differences between mixtures and compounds.
  • Significant figures, rounding and scientific notation.
  • Chemical equations and balancing simple equations and understanding the concept of mass conservation.
  • Density mass calculations.
Physics: (30 hours)
  • Newton's laws; force, velocity acceleration concept and simple calculations.
  • Principles of light and understanding the behavior of light with respect to plane, concave and convex mirrors.

This very rigorous and advanced science program is focused on the fundamentals of Chemistry, Physics and Biology. Students as early as 9 years begin to learn about Newton’s laws, the periodic table, atomic structure, balancing chemical equations, photosynthesis, electricity & magnetism, Mendel’s genetic grids, Human body systems, bacterial growth and much more. The program is fun and activity-based which progresses up to AP level Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Tutors are well versed in college admission requirements and the UC Berkley’s recommendation for science education in elementary and middle schools. Your child will be well prepared for high school. Students love this program.

Math [All Levels]

Beginning at 2nd grade our math program rapidly moves into pre-algebra and prepares students for admission into the higher math program offered in California schools. We pay particular attention to students who are weak in math or believe that they do not have a math brain. Our approach is kind and gentle and over time our students excel in math. We are flexible and will adjust our curriculum to suit the individual student’s needs.

Language Arts [4th grade to College Admission]

We offer courses in writing mechanics, comprehension, grammar skills, vocabulary and spelling. This program begins at 8 years of age and progresses up to SAT level.
