“ChemPlay Tutoring Center” was founded by Dr. Ragina Patel, PhD. Dr. Patel obtained her PhD (Chemistry) in 1984 from University of Auckland, New Zealand. She taught at Auckland Technical Institute and University of Auckland, New Zealand before accepting a postdoctoral fellowship position at University of Southern California. She worked as a research scientist for 15 years before re-entering academia. Her 12 years industry experience includes training, writing manuscripts, and publishing in peer reviewed scientific journals, designing and conducting research for medical diagnostic companies, project management and raising two girls. Her technical expertise is in High Pressure Liquid Chromatography.
She taught pre-medical Chemistry, nursing Chemistry and Algebra at Dominican University, San Rafael California before starting her own business. She has been teaching and tutoring since 1979. Her present students come from many schools and colleges including The Branson School, Drake High School, Terra Linda High School, Tamalpais High School, Redwood High School, Marin Academy, San Domenico School, San Rafael High School, Washington University, Dominican University, San Francisco State University, St Ignatius Preparatory, University High School, Marin Horizon, Hall Middle School, Oak Manor Primary School, Saint Anselm’s, Saint Rita’s and White Hill Middle School.
As an educator, Dr. Patel has dedicated herself and her company to making her understanding of the natural world accessible to young people, regardless of their previous experience. She is highly acclaimed for her innovative techniques which are designed to make even intricate and complex topics fun for teens and pre-teens.
